Pain Management

Pain is your body’s warning system that something bigger is going on inside.

Understanding and identifying the cause of the pain is critical in stopping it or reducing it, so it is manageable.

What is pain management?

Just about everyone feels some kind of pain from time to time, as pain is your body’s warning system that something bigger is going on inside.

Did you know that one out of five people in America experiences chronic pain every day?  Pain can vary in intensity and duration of its existence. Understanding and identifying the cause of the pain is critical in stopping it or reducing it, so it is manageable for your life.

The typical protocol is pain medication, although effective at times, it often leads to a stronger and stronger need for the medication.  Sometimes the side effects are not known for a period of time. You also have to take into consideration the adverse reactions that can often lead to serious complications.

At Exclusive Nerve and Disc Centers®, we search for the cause of your issue in order to best treat the problem from the source and not just cover up the symptoms. We use highly effective nonsurgical and non-invasive methods of pain management.

What Are the Types of Pain?

Types of pain resulting from a disease or accident. The types of pain include:

  • Acute: This type of pain is sharp and often results from an injury. Acute pain gets better when providers treat the injury or disease that’s causing the pain. This type of pain can result from a fracture, disc herniation, or other kinds of accidents. Some illnesses and disorders, such as diabetic neuropathy cause acute pain.
  • Chronic: Pain that lasts more than six months is considered chronic pain. This type of pain can result from an untreated injury or disease. It can also result from conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or nerve damage (neuropathy). Low back and neck, and knee pain is another type of chronic pain.
  • Neuropathic: Problems with the nervous system cause neuropathic pain (nerve pain). It happens when nerves fire pain signals to the brain by mistake, even when they aren’t damaged. Diabetics, multiple sclerosis, and highly compressed nerves are a few examples.
